Here are ideas for replacing salt and still have a flavorful meal each of the following categories offers flavor that your taste buds will enjoy.

1. Savory & Umami Boosters

When the depth and richness that salt isn't there, try these spices to anchor your dishes:


. Garlic and Onion Powder: these spices deliver a savory, and robust flavor

perfect to combine and put on roasted vegetables, meats and stews.

Try Nutritional Yeast, A flakey deactivated yeast offering a savory, cheesy flavor that mimics parmesan cheese great for pasta, grains, popcorn.


Smoked Paprika: gives a deep smoky flavor that is delicious making it great for

chilis, marinades and beans careful when adding to a dish can easily overpower the dish.

Acidic Zest & Brightness,


Acidity activates salivary glands, mimicking the sharp bite and zing

usually triggered by salt.


Lemon or Lime Juice even the zest brighten any dish

from salads, fish and roasted veggies


Vinegars: Balsamic, apple cider, or red wine vinegar add a complex tartness to dressings, marinades


Sumac: a middle eastern spice with a vibrant, tangy lemon-like taste that brings out the flavor of meats, vegetables.
